How I Connected My Claude Code Agents to Telegram
A Telegram bot that bridges your phone to the Claude Code agents on your laptop: text or voice note in, agents run it.
What you'll build
A Telegram bot that's a mobile bridge to the Claude Code agents on your laptop. As long as the laptop's awake, you can shoot off a command from your phone - text or voice note - and your agents run it: draw an Excalidraw diagram, summarize the day's business emails, add an idea to your Notion dashboard with tasks and tags. You get the result back in the chat instead of having to sit at your desk and wait.
Mine connects to all three of my agents - Atlas (business), Jarvis (personal), Axiom (personal brand). Cost zero bucks, took less than two hours to build, and the voice notes are free too.
What you'll need
- Claude Code running on a laptop (or any machine) that stays awake
- Telegram
- ~2 hours for the build
Step 1: Create your bot with BotFather
In Telegram, find BotFather (the one with the verified check mark). Type /start, then /newbot, and name it whatever you want - mine's called Atlas mobile. BotFather hands you an API token. That token is one of only two things Claude Code needs for the whole integration.
Step 2: Grab your Telegram user ID
Search for User Info Bot (userinfobot), type start, and it spits back your user ID. That's the second thing.
The user ID is also the security layer: the bot only answers commands from your Telegram account. You can find my bot by searching Austin_Atlas_bot, but any command you send gets cancelled because your user ID doesn't match the one it's linked to.
Step 3: Hand both to Claude Code and let it build the bridge
Paste the bot token and your user ID into Claude Code and tell it to build the bot connected to your agents. Those two values are genuinely all it needs from you.
I had this idea sitting in my Notion project dashboard for months - all I did was point Claude at that project, give it some more context, and tell it to build it out. I also invoked the Superpowers skill first, which makes Claude think longer and ask deeper discovery questions before building, so you can one-shot a build like this. It built the whole thing in one shot: live bot, three agents connected, under two hours.
Step 4: Keep the laptop awake
The bot only works while your machine is on and reachable, so toggle it into caffeinated mode so it never sleeps. Claude Code can do that for you - it already has access to everything.
Step 5: Switch to dangerously-skip-permissions
When a command comes in from your phone, you're not there to approve each edit. So the agent runs with permissions skipped - it just gets the job done and reports back. Claude can flip this setting for you too.
Dangerously-skip-permissions means exactly what it says: commands execute without you confirming anything. That's the whole point of a remote bot, but know what you're enabling - the user-ID lock from Step 2 is what keeps it yours alone.
I also set it up to keep context for the past five messages - so if I shoot off a command and then want to edit something, it doesn't completely forget. It knows what I'm referring to and adjusts.
Step 6: Add voice notes with local Whisper
I like to speak rather than type everything out, so the bot takes voice notes: hold the record button, ramble the command, and it transcribes locally with Whisper and routes it to the right agent. Costs nothing - the transcription runs on your machine.
Step 7: Use it like a work phone
Some of the commands I actually run from my phone:
- "Atlas, give me a summary of all my business emails today" - comes back with what's noise and what's client-facing
- "Create a new diagram using my Axiom agent" - the Excalidraw skill runs and saves the file
- Random idea while I'm out → "Create this project, create tasks for it, tag it as automation, priority low" - lands clean in my Notion dashboard
Realistically, anything you can do on your laptop, you can now do through your phone, 24/7, for free. Next on my list: a Mac mini so it's always on, and file/image attachments.
That's it - two values from Telegram, one build session, and you've got a functioning work phone in your hand. Good luck and happy building.
