Building an AI Automation That Tweets for Me

An automation that turns a daily Google Form into finished tweets with ChatGPT and Make.com.

What you'll build

The AI tweeter - an automation that turns your daily learning into Twitter content without lifting a finger. Every day you get an automated email with a Google Form. You answer a few quick questions about what you learned, what you're curious about, and any insights you want to share - and AI turns those answers into a tweet and posts it for you. I built this because I like documenting progress, and I'm learning the AI space anyway - so instead of crafting a tweet every day, I made an automation around it.

Two pieces: a daily email trigger + AI processing pipeline in Make.com, and a free Twitter posting mechanism through Pipedream (the official-ish alternative, Xweet API, runs about $60/month - ridiculous, so we're going the free route).

What you'll need

Step 1: Set up the daily email in Make.com

Head over to Make.com and create a new scenario. Add a Gmail Send an email module and schedule it for whatever time works for you - mine fires at 8 p.m. Connect your Gmail, add a subject line, and in the content just put the link to your Google Form. That's the whole trigger: every evening, the form lands in your inbox.

Step 2: Build the form and clean up the sheet

Your Google Form asks the daily questions - what you learned, what you're curious about, what insights you want to share. In the connected Google Sheet, change the headers to just the question answers so they're easy to map later. I went through a bunch of broken attempts here so you hopefully get it on the first or second try.

Step 3: Add the ChatGPT module and prompt it right

Connect a ChatGPT module to the form responses. The prompting is the important part:

Step 4: Add an HTTP module to send the tweet out

Since there's no cheap native Twitter module, add an HTTP → Make a request module. This sends your data to an external service that handles posting to X.

Put the ChatGPT result in quotation marks inside the JSON body, or the request errors out. One of the little things I learned the hard way so you don't have to.

Step 5: Create the Pipedream project and trigger

Go to pipedream.net and log in - completely free. Create a new project (I named mine "daily tweet" - you can see how many errors I racked up before it worked). Create a trigger, and you don't have to do much here: just copy the trigger URL it gives you, go back to Make.com, and paste it into your HTTP module. Once that's set, you're done on the Make side.

Step 6: Add the code step with your Twitter keys

In Pipedream, connect a Node.js code step after the trigger. Grab the exact code from my doc (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OeSFwOjsJladAvY8hIMpRnMIsx0OEKCpA4VCFDrVnyg/edit?usp=sharing), or ask ChatGPT to write you one. The important part is giving it your Twitter developer credentials:

API key
API secret
Access token
Access token secret

All four need to be read and write enabled.

Step 7: Get your keys from the X developer portal

Don't go to normal Twitter for this - search up developer.x.com and open the developer portal (free to create). Go to Projects - it may give you one by default, otherwise create one. Then:

  1. Open app settings and edit the app permissions - change it from the default to read and write. Skip this and you're in for a ton of errors.
  2. Back in the developer portal, open Keys and tokens and regenerate the API key and tokens.
  3. Save them somewhere, then plug them into the Pipedream code step.

Step 8: Run it

Click run. ChatGPT puts the answers together, Make sends it over to Pipedream, Pipedream posts it. Check Twitter, reload - there's your tweet. From here you're all set and you can tweet as often as you want.

That's it - answer four questions a day and the automation does the rest. Good luck and happy building.
